Dave Hinshaw

Dave started his tennis career at the age of six in Wisconsin and played competitively through his junior and adult years. Dave has been a member of the AF-RC for over 25 years. After retiring from a career with PG&E, Dave joined Jordan’s Tennis Staff to support the junior tennis programs. Since then, Dave’s role has expanded, and you can now find him conducting fast-paced adult tennis clinics as well. Dave emphasizes stroke technique, consistency, strategy, mental toughness and above all, hitting a lot of balls.

Dave’s easy going personality makes him a favorite with both juniors and adults alike. When he’s not on the courts, Dave is an avid runner and volunteer at the Placer County Animal Shelter.

If you're looking to refine your game, get a great workout, and have fun while improving your tennis, email Dave at tennislessons@ar-fc.com.

Jon Toney

Jon grew up in the Bay Area. He was a nationally ranked junior and a division one collegiate player at the University of Oregon and San Diego State, where he was also nationally ranked.

After college, Jon served as Tennis Director at the Diablo Country Club. He also coached at UC Santa Barbara and more recently at William Jessup University, where he launched their Men’s Tennis Program. Jon is the author of the book, “Honest Racquet,” and is a USTA committee member.

These days Jon lives in Nevada City with his wife Lee Ann. He has three grown children, all very talented artists, and a grandson who is growing up fast! When not playing or coaching tennis, his favorite activity is walking the trails with his appropriately named dog, Sierra.

“My goal and hope is to Coach every member at ARFC and help them become the best player and person they can be!”
