For over 30 years, Auburn Racquet & Fitness Club has provided a racquetball program for kids wanting to learn a fun, fast paced sport. Our formula has been a simple one: a child's desire, plus parental support, coupled with a dedicated racquetball staff has translated, for many, into a lifelong interest in racquetball and, more importantly, a health and fitness focused lifestyle!
Former junior and current pro player Ben Croft, explains, "Aside from a work ethic and a dedication to the pursuit of perfection, the most important lesson I've taken from growing up, training and competing in racquetball, is self-confidence and a belief in myself. Nobody but you can get the job done. If you want something badly enough, you have to put in the time to achieve it. That confidence gained has been extremely valuable in all aspects of my life.
Other than confidence, self-belief and a solid work ethic, there are countless positive aspects and benefits of playing an individual sport. The mixture of team and individual activities can be very beneficial to the success of a young person and will continue throughout life. During my sixteen years of playing racquetball I've had my ups and downs, but I have learned lessons that only an individual sport could've taught me. Well into adulthood racquetball, continues to teach and help me grow as a person, and that's one of the many reasons I love the sport so much.
ARFC offers junior racquetball Monday through Thursday from 3:00–4:30 pm. All kids interested may participate free of charge, the only prerequisite is attending a monthly orientation (sign-up at the First Impressions Desk) to learn basic rules, mechanics, sportsmanship, and safety! These aspects and more are repeated and detailed through continued attendance.
