Cancer Well-Fit Program

The Cancer Well-Fit Program is designed for anyone who is currently dealing with cancer, or has been treated in the last year, and wants to regain strength, balance, and energy.

Our goal is to help the cancer recovery process by restoring strength, balance, energy, and confidence. Our primary focus is to condition the Muscular and Cardiovascular Systems through gradual resistance and range-of-motion exercises. We utilize the state-of-the-art exercise facilities at ARFC to introduce progressive weight training, gradual cardiovascular conditioning, and core and balance training.

The Well-Fit program combines the latest in exercise science with a supportive and motivating environment to assist the recovery process.

College Scholarship Program

Auburn Racquet & Fitness Club's Scholarship Program is a biannual program and will run from 10/1/17 to 1/31/18. This program is open to ARFC members and non-members who are juniors or seniors at Placer, Colfax, Del Oro, or Bear River High Schools.

This four month program is designed to introduce the benefits of health and fitness to Placer, Colfax, Del Oro, or Bear River High School Juniors and Seniors, and in turn ask them to share those benefits with their local community. A complimentary membership at Auburn Racquet & Fitness Club, the sponsor and venue for all of the activities, is included with the program.

Overview

At the conclusion, each participant will be asked to write an essay (minimum of 1,000 words) describing their experience, identifying the benefits of health and fitness and how those benefits have improved their lives, and describing how they plan to promote a healthy lifestyle within their community. The essays will be reviewed by a panel made up of High School Administrators and ARFC Staff. The winning applicant will receive a $2,000 scholarship toward college or continuing education.

Program Requirements
  • Attend the Club to exercise a minimum of three times per week.
  • Participate in one Group Personal Training class each week.
  • Participate in 15 Group Fitness classes during the program.
  • Participate in one Cardio Tennis or Rookie Tennis class during the program.
  • Write a 1000 word essay describing the benefits of health & fitness learned during the program, and what the student will now do to share those benefits with their local community.

Failure to meet any of the program requirements will result in loss of complimentary membership, enrollment in the program, and eligibility for the scholarship.

The Scholarship

The $2,000 scholarship will be awarded as such. In the case of a High School Senior, $1,000 will be given upon proof of registration in full-time continuing education for the first year, with the remaining $1,000 held in trust and to be given upon proof of registration for a second year. In the case of a High School Junior, the scholarship will be placed in trust until their High School graduation when the same procedures will then be followed as with High School Seniors. Although every participant will benefit from the program, only one will win the scholarship
